MLA Report
(28 October 2010)

$5 Million For New MS Treatment

Our government is continuing to put patients first. We are committing $5 million to fund clinical trials for the Multiple Sclerosis (MS) liberation procedure. The procedure is a potentially ground-breaking treatment for MS and this funding will help determine its validity.

Saskatchewan MS patients and their families will play an important part in the clinical trials. Information about how interested patients may take part will be available after a research team has been announced in 2011. Patients are then encouraged to watch for updates and announcements. The goal is to have a process in place for proceeding with clinical trials by the spring of 2011. More information will be posted on the SHRF website.

By taking a leadership role on this important health issue, it will bring us that much closer to finding the important answers our patients, and their families, need and deserve. We hope this research will have a positive affect for many people right here in Saskatchewan and across the country.
